Edexcel GCSE (Short Course) Information & Communication Technology (ICT)
N.B. The last examination for this syallabus occurs in June 2009. Current Year 10 students are following the AQA A full course ICT. This is a modern specification that recognises the essential practical nature of the subject area. Students experience a range of practical activities from which a body of skills and knowledge will develop. The learning context of this specification is based upon the four Strands of Progression as defined in the Key Stage 4 Programme of Study. These strands are: - Finding things out
- Developing ideas and making things happen
- Exchanging and sharing information
- Reviewing, modifying and evaluating work as it progresses.
This course is assessed through coursework (60%) and external examination (40%). Two coursework tasks are set, one in year 10 and one in year 11. Currently, the year 10 coursework task involves a word processing or presentation problem, while the year 11 task involes a spreadheet scenario. |
